But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. – Galatians 5:22-23
I think that we all feel like we need to do something extrodanary to give off the light of Jesus, and while we can take that route we can also radiate Him in our day to day! There are nine charactaristics of a person that walkes with Jesus that can be showcased in the day to day, these are called the fruits of the spirit. You probably know what the fruits of the spirits are, but I am going to lay out a couple simple ways you can use them as a tool in your life.
PLANTING FOCUS FRUIT SEEDS
A simple way to start cultivating a fruitful life is to pick a "focus fruit" every week, and applying that fruit in every aspect of your life. For example if I chose patience as my focus fruit for this week I would look at all the different areas of my life and take note of how I am falling short in patience, and then work to infuse more patience into those areas.
But just like growing a real fruit growing spiritual fruit takes time, so just focusing on one fruit for a week won't grow a whole fruit tree! Becoming a fruitful person takes time.
LOOK FOR FRUITFUL PEOPLE
If I take a closer look almost every person I have ever wanted to be like is a very fruitful person! If you were a gardener you would probably want to be friends with other gardeners, in the same way, if you are trying to be a fruitful person you will probably want to be friends with fruitful people! Community is an important part of growing in our walk with Jesus, so if you are trying to grow in your fruitfulness you should have friends trying to do the same, as well as fruitful friends that you can look up to!
GROWING FOR GOD
If you are trying to grow for yourself, by yourself, it will only end in dissapointment. When we try to grow for Him, He will help us! I suggest asking God in prayer for a fruitful live and fruitful friends, after all Jesus can't help us unless we ask. We can bring God's words into our growth by looking up verses for each fruit of the spirit and praying over them as well as journaling them.
Lord, I want to thank you for the gift of fruitfulness, you give us so many ways to soak in your goodness and become better. I want to ask you to help me grow in all aspects of life, and become a more fruitful person. Jesus, please let love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control just wash over me and bleed into every part of my life.
Amen!
